Is my MBP dying?

hello,

mbp 2009 mid model started behaving odd. on wednesday duing boot failed. booted dvd, took while , when in run diskuntil , sees no hdd . thought hdd failed put original hdd had snow leopard , 3 days worked. later today duing boot, ip see grey screen of death spinning icon. attempt book dvd took long time before saw welcome screen. can not progress further beyond language selection - 'use english main language'

logic board dying? memory dead? or else?

logic boards don't "die." maybe try removing stick of ram see if helps.
