Finder is not....Finding

1st must say....i new mac, forgive me if dumb question. did through forums before posted, didn't find one, , did @ mac 101: finder area, , looks finder should work way trying.

here issue:

have installed 2 apps mac app store. typing program , utility. open finder , search using typing programs name , shows nothing. same utility , shows nothing. can click on applications on left side , there are, finder suppose find information?


help.

 

did perhaps turn off spotlight?
