Apple Estimated to Retake Title of World's Largest Smartphone Vendor

research firm strategy analytics today announced estimates of global smartphone market fourth quarter of 2011, finding apple narrowly squeezed samsung retake title of world's largest smartphone vendor measured unit shipments. according strategy analytics' numbers, apple's 37 million iphones narrowly eclipsed samsung's quarterly smartphone shipments of 36.5 million units.
strategy analytics showed apple first taking title in second quarter of 2011 passed nokia , held off surging samsung become world's largest smartphone vendor. apple's reign @ top short-lived samsung easily topped list in third quarter on continued growth paired pause in iphone sales ahead of iphone 4s launch. iphone 4s launch fueling apple's numbers, able retake lead samsung in fourth quarter, although not able top charts full-year 2011.
