6G SSD not recognised in Mid2010 MacBookPro

i purchased mercury extreme pro 6g ssd 240gb - owc website says should work in mid2010 macbook pro. - can't work. doing wrong or did make mistake going 6g?

did:
installed ssd in place of internal macbookpro hdd. tried start macbookpro. after pressing power button, 'welcome' tone sounds , screen backlight comes on. press c key (i have lion installation disk in optical drive) there no further activity. not apple logo appearing on screen. if same steps original hdd in machine, 'welcome' tone, screen backlight comes on, apple logo appears after 25 seconds , mac os utilities menu comes after around 9minutes.

model name: macbook pro
model identifier: macbookpro7,1
processor name: intel core 2 duo
processor speed: 2.66 ghz
number of processors: 1
total number of cores: 2
l2 cache: 3 mb
memory: 8 gb
bus speed: 1.07 ghz
boot rom version: mbp71.0039.b0e
smc version (system): 1.62f6

appreciate ideas or assistance!

try using "option key" rather "c"

also, if works, once lion install starts found had first chose run disk utility, partition new drive , install lion (did 2 days ago on old mbp)
