stumped here. input gratefully received...
new mac arrived @ friend's house. decided not use migration assistant.
set new mac tried copy across old user folder new machine. new machine not seeing old user folder.
suspect because had user / home folder.
how can make old user folder, old machine, useable on new machine please?

you should create accounts on new system first, move files/folders over, , (probably) correct file permissions wrong.
easiest method reinstall lion , use migration assistant. that's it's there for.
