FCPX feathering video

i have spent hours trying finger out how equivalent of rectangle mask tool in motion 5 (or select tool in photoshop amount of feathering option) video 'feathered'. want able feather without having go motion since new versions of fcpx , motion 5, cannot move , forth between programs. ideas?

 

build template in motion publish effect. andy neill has posted tutorial problem on holy cow.
