i know repost i'm not sure put this. work in web design , media production. volunteer @ small church. have started after-school program provide safe environment youth enjoy. program @ church not involve religious doctrine. have created internship program made of young people community. learn simple computer functions advanced technical skills in professional media field. unique opportunity not gain experience able introduce own creative ideas projects. group exposed unheard of avenues , possible future in fields. experience leave lasting impression on lives , able provide alternative staying out of trouble in urban community. have no funds , have figured out away upgrade own damaged mac, have suggestions might donate type mac?
schools? computer recycling depots?
if me, soliciting money more old hardware. fundraising , use money buy used , condition computer equipment off ebay or local craigslist-type listings. if rely solely on donated hardware you're going end bottom of barrel stuff.
unless want make part of program. take donated used pcs (probably many more of macs), take them apart, fix ones aren't working, teach kids how put them or repair them. teach older ones how install , run linux (free, runs on older pcs, useful technical skills).
