iPhoto and possibly safari weirdness

ok @ wits end , need figuring out happend.
(brand new macbook pro, bought few weeks before christmas 2011)

today opened iphoto find 3600 photos not there before. photos of icons found in safari. few screenshots of default opening page of safari, had changed after opened first time. whats more don't use safari anymore. girlfriend uses log on facebook doesn't have retype password/log me off of mine on chrome, main browser. rest of photos other safari related icons. included things button , little earth in address bar. things "print buttons" varied in design. these photos not there week ago when last opened iphoto. had own dates , event titles includes dates before had purchase computer , names black flamingo, orange flamingo, , safari help.

know going on here??

 

did have top sites active? puts lots of images on computer, didn't think put them in iphoto.
