European Consumer Groups Criticize Apple's Warranties

worldwide, apple hardware comes one-year warranty. on products, warranty can extended 2 or 3 years applecare. however, in european union, law requires manufacturers cover goods 2 years.

consumer groups in 11 countries -- comparable consumer reports in united states -- have sent letters national regulators asking action against apple regarding warranty practices, reports bloomberg.

late last year, apple fined $1.2 million italian regulators on allegations company hadn't adequately disclosed standard two-year warranty required italian law. apple added disclosures italian online store address court's concerns, have since been taken down. appeal due decided in rome tomorrow.

in us, have 1st year warranty built price of product, , 2nd/3rd year covered via applecare, right?

can't build of first two years of warranty price of product in eu? , have 3rd year covered via applecare @ reduced cost?
