Options for iPad 3 repair?

so dropped brand new, 9 day old, 3rd generation ipad... rather, fiancé dropped brand new, 9 day old, 3rd generation ipad on tile. bezel dented badly enough need replaced , glass shattered.

didn't applecare+ because hold on thing child...

current plan show @ apple store live 45 minutes away , start ( or rather, resume ) crying , hope feel pity. sell me applecare @ point, being in 30 day window , all, or insurance fraud?

options repair?

 

you can out of warranty replacement - think $299 ipad.
