Nikon 17-55 f/2.8 vs. Sigma 17-50 f/2.8

hello all,

want upgrade lens nikon d90 , i'm trying decide between 2 lenses.

nikon 17-55mm f/2.8g ed-if af-s dx nikkor zoom lens

or

sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 ex dc os hsm fld large aperture standard zoom lens nikon digital dslr camera

need excellent , fast lens photojournalism (my 1.4 50mm great, wide in many situations , other lens, sigma 18-200 4.5 slow in low-light situations).

i'm willing spend bucks nikon, i'm wondering if nikon better enough justify twice cost.

build quality alone may justify price if you're photojournalist. however, reviews i've read (and reviews) have suggested contrast better on nikon more importantly nikon sharper @ 2.8. if i'm buying lens because it's faster want top performer.

@ mtf chart @ widest end ...



though can't judge these charts alone, it's helpful @ best.
