Bootcamp & copy of Windows for gaming vs. console?

i wanted survey of opinions (hopefully more knowledgeable own) on best route this.
have 27" imac bought last summer (3.1 ghz intel core i5 processor , 4 gb 1333 mhz ddr3 memory) , i'm debating best route go gaming, namely purchasing copy of windows , running bootcamp pc gaming, versus going console.
drawbacks/positive reasons going bootcamp route? seems sound me, copy of windows cheaper ps3 or 360, , think computer has more power console.
anyway, correct me if i'm wrong or misled anywhere here, open tips or advice.

definitely go windows boot camp option! have same computer , got boot camp. has been playing xbox 360 since launch, let me difference staggering. graphics better, textures sharper, game runs faster, , there literally no load times. also, computers allow user created content called mods, add 100s of hours onto games. no competition, bootcamp.
