Anyone done a display upgrade in a non-unibody LED-backlit MBP?

so i've got idle '08 mbp 15.4" busted led-backlit display (a1260, model). inspired baxterbrittle's incredible thread here on macrumors detailed ccfl 1920x1200 upgrade, of course possible on mbps older own.

activity in thread, , information on this incredibly helpful consolidated writeup suggests procedure should possible led-backlit models led replacement panel, seem nobody's done yet. don't mind being guinea pig, i'm hoping @ least guidance before start buying stuff.

questions are:
  • has led non-unibody mbp done upgrade? if so, panel did buy , there 'gotchas' know about?
  • it sounds need track down 15.4" 1920x1200 led display dell precision m4400, i'm confused. there rgbled wuxga display on model, think i'd need wled display fit mbp's chassis, right? did exist?
  • on chance there isn't 1920x1200 panel available this, there 1680x1050 panel candidate?

advice appreciated. don't mind taking chance buying "should" work, , i'm comfortable ripping machine apart it's not main laptop or anything. might become main laptop if can wuxga screen in there, though!

guys.

so after combing original ccfl thread more thoroughly, looks m4400's panel won't fit. pretty leaves me creek 1920x1200 panels.

of 1680 wsxga+ panels fit. should start there.
