i have been thinking on last few days , have made decision want upgrade ram in 13", 2011, i7 2.7ghz macbook pro. use macbook lot, , defiantly notice when have lot of things open @ same time starts feel sluggish. things photoshop, msn, skype, steam , other things seem slowing down computer. here concerns. lack of ram slowing down computer or due cpu or intel hd 3000 possibly? 8gb ram personal use or better deal go 16gb ram? there chance upgrading ram improve performance while playing games? installing ram manually void warranty? paid extended warranty little worried that.
anyways, few of concerns. help!
many ram cheap, as can, if it's not needed. however, ram prices continue fall, , if more isn't needed now, waiting buy @ later time when it's needed result in lower price.
determine if can benefit more ram, launch activity monitor , click system memory tab @ bottom check page outs. page outs cumulative since last restart, best way check restart computer , track page outs under normal workload (the apps, browser pages , documents have open). if page outs significant (say 1gb or more) under normal use, may benefit more ram. if page outs 0 or low during normal use, won't see performance improvement adding ram.
mac os x: reading system memory usage in activity monitor
installation of user-installable parts such ram does not void apple warranty or applecare protection plan, unless damage in process.
