MAMP, Netbeans, MySQL workbench help

hi all,

new using mamp , not hot running diagnostics or using terminal (though know basics).

problem think in setting mamp, mysql workbench , netbeans work together... actual issue when click on 'run project' in netbeans, opens safari , says can't connect localhost:8888. trying run .html page.

ran 'sudo apachectl -t' through terminal mentioned in forum , said 'syntax ok'. not sure how relevant is.

using mac os x 10.6.8. had issues setting new server instance in mysql workbench- i'm still not sure settings right though paths check out:

path url/admin tool: /applications/mysqlworkbench.app
path start command: /applications/mamp/bin/startmysql.sh
path stop command: /applications/mamp/bin/stopmysql.sh

oh, thought weird basic mysql server properties (netbeans>services>databases>properties) defines port i'm using 3306. though mamp port defined on starter page opens in browser on opening mamp 8889. , safari telling me cant connect localhost:8888. why these different , should same? new server instance created in mysql workbench created on 3306.

well, thats info can think provide. advice appreciated or links mamp configuration tutorial perhaps (i have been following wamp config tutorial, different. of paths , file names different mine , of steps different. can't find online explains need know)

thank you, appreciate responses able preview site!

howdy!

i'm not doing development using mamp (i.e., post of no :d ), can tell different services run on different ports, including web ui front end db, web configuration, etc.

i.e., i'm running oracle (the listener) on 1 port, web ui oracle on port, actual web site on 3rd port (on same ip, machine) ... it's typical setup.

mamp (assuming server config/properties web ui) fire on localhost:8889 ?
