hi, have 2010 macbook pro purchased 128gb crucial m4 , caddy for. i'm under snow leopard , thinking of maybe upgrading lion @ same time. i'm having doubts what's best way install
.
want boot off ssd, have applications there , keep home folder on hdd. use time machine i'd restore it. don't want reinstall have bunch of stuff , don't want loose preferences. question is, happen if try restore time machine of current installation uses 220gb 128 gb drive ?
if that's not possible what's best way go around this? thinking of putting of contents of home folder on external hdd , delete them off current install , run time machine slim containing preferences , application. way restore installation ssd , format hdd copy files external hdd it.
i'd second opinion on before potentially nuke data
you can put hard drive in caddy, optibay, , ssd in main bay. can boot hard drive still, , use carbon copy cloner have exact copy of existing files. however, can still fresh install of ssd can reserve space possible. have same setup mentioned you, except intel 520 120gb ssd , 750gb in optibay.
