iphoto sharing between users and blocked thumbnails

hi,
have 2 main problems;
1 family photos stored in iphoto in log on name not appear in wife's user account when logs on. how either copy or preferably allow access iphoto wife when logged on?
2 lost/deleted photos , replaced them external storage system. in general ok show thumbnail of photo when click view full screen or edit photo replaced black exclamation mark within white circle on black screen. how can view/edit these photos?

appreciated.

before answer, let me prefer never keep originals of photos in iphoto. includes photostream photos. export them nas drive every family member can see, re-import them have set iphoto not copy them iphoto library. have 200 gig of photos , home movies in iphoto iphoto library less 10 gig in size.

export them , put them either on shared network (nas) drive or in shared folder on mac. can see them there. possible move entire iphoto library different folder both see in mac's shared folder. proceed caution when comes moving iphoto library. sure have exported , backed before attempt it.

had 67 gb iphoto library. decided move firewire drive. copied in finder deleted original file. found out file corrupted. iphoto library "package" , can take inside picking "show package contents". have gone inside , recovered lot of photos not necessary never allowed original or copies of photos in iphoto library. because had backed up, recreating iphoto library quick time turned off "import photos" , data in iphoto library metadata faces , places. of course means can't go moving files , folders around after importing them iphoto or iphoto gets confused went.

here 2 alternatives:

1 - , wife have separate iphoto libraries, each pointing files sitting in shared folder (on mac or on network).
pros: originals not kept in iphoto library, cons: have import things twice

2 - , wife share single iphoto library sitting in shared folder (on mac or on network).
pros: have import things once, cons: have set permissions on iphoto library both , wife can modify it, might tempted leave originals sitting in iphoto library
