i have no idea happened. @ 1 point had 80 gigs free. because of of stuff had downloaded personally, music, pictures, apps, kind of thing. 1 day logged onto desktop , found there 35 gigs left. proceeded delete bunch of junk wasn't using anymore, , freed me 40. 1 who'd used computer in past 2 days, no 1 downloading enormous or wasn't it. found out local snapshots , thought i'd deactivate (because i'm using imac time machine hard drive connected it). did nothing. living 40 gigs 3 days, 1 day came back. had 80 gigs on hard drive again! yaaaay
unfortunately me, went away. apparently went away.
said "other" had occupied 248 of 250 gigs on computer. what's problem? coming from? i'm freaking confused. i've attached screen shot of system profiler.
update:
have new screenshot. it's twice confusing. happened when updated lion software. doesn't make sense, because on sunday had on 80 gigs. it's tuesday now, , happened.

this strange one. have tried repair disk (from lion's recovery partition)? on imac local snapshots shouldn't activated default. try scan system disk inventory x or grandperspective (both free) see big files
