Changing the account accepted calendar events go into?

my wife , both have iphones icloud accounts. have separate home calendars random stuff not of interest other person, , wife has work calendar that's shared me. however, when need arises me invite event on non-shared home calendar, when presses accept doesn't add own home calendar, adds work calendar, shared me , causes duplicate entry show on iphone.

there way change calendar accepted events go into? if possible, when presses accept i'd event show on home calendar, not work calendar. note reference have home calendar set default in preferences.

i believe because work calendar associated email address use send invite. since share work calendar, why not add event work calendar , not send invite.
