bought mac mini around 2 months ago , have been using 'work' style computer media centre, hooked 26 inch tv via hdmi , dell 17 inch monitor via thunderbolt/minidisplay.
want have 1 single monitor now, tv big, , monitor have has no webcam/speakers built in.
kind of monitors guys recommend? student uk way!

i go dell monitors, i'd stick dell. believe dell has student purchase program, perhaps start there , check out offerings? dell monitor in 20 24 inch range shouldn't terribly expensive, depending on want/ need it.
