IPod Classic and Restoring Itunes library

sick of pc "blue screens" , years of unsolicited error messages, i'm new mac owner. have question porting ipod classic library on new mac mini.

entire library (over 1700 songs, purchased , laboriously added on years cds) on ipod classic. have no worries itunes restoring purchased songs onto new master library build on new mini, i'm wondering best "music rescue" type program bring "non-apple store" music on new library.

suggestions, pros/cons, or caveats appreciated.

go pc, start itunes, turn on "home sharing", start itunes on mac, , copy through "home sharing". or go pc, start itunes, , use "backup" menu item in itunes copy library few dvds, import them on mac.

ipod _not_ place keep library.
