How do I use the terminal as an email client?

i dislike mail, mac's email client, , know there way use terminal same purpose. how do it? i've tried techniques, in send emails through terminal people can't reply them. that's not i'm interested in though, want able send emails , have people reply them, , able check mail on terminal. how do it?

 

use text-based email client, pine.
