dear people of macrumors forum,
need solid advice!
own ipod 5g (video), 30 gb. turn 6 next summer, he's old.
still works well, glitches reset solves.
however, earphone input not work anymore, audio experience isn't anymore, when walk. hate remote controls on earbuds won't work, easier change volume without getting ipod pocket.
so, hesitating fix it, costs 40$ , take effort going repair agency. don't know if remote controls work on new earbud input.
or, i'll buy new ipod classic, 100% new, new hard disk, mother board etc etc. don't care new classic interface, new aluminium front cover , big storage. however, if new classic has better audio , video performance, i'd opt new classic.
real question is: new ipod classic better 6 year old ipod video regarding, example, life cycle, audio/ video performance or better battery life? did replace battery 1,5 years ago, current battery life fine.
clear: not interested in iphone or ipod touch.
in advance, thank much!
what follows opinion, not confused advice.
repaired. $40.00 reasonable. might have new battery installed them. dac in 5 , 5.5 gen. classic wolfson and, in opinion, best sounding of hard-drive based ipods. have no idea earbud volume control working. video on newer classics better, don't use mine video, music.
have bought 3 5th gen classics on ebay , craigslist , work great. buying used electronics crapshoot got lucky on purchases. see disclaimer @ top ;~)
