i had idea other day , wondering if has done / thinks work.
own 2008 macbook white that, logically, has been running bit slow on past little while.it works faster great. has 160gb hard drive don't care getting bunch of space.
i'm considering popping in 120gb ssd , 6gb of ram. might have go 4gb owc says can hold 6gb figure why not cap out?
question is, can done? can old macbooks handle ssd's without issues? know old c2d processor still holding me down imac workhorse, want mobile unit (my macbook) faster.
suggestions? ssd or not? 4gb of ram vs. 6gb? know can put stuff in, that's not problem. need know if system can handle , make use of kind of speed. basically, can turn heavier air weak processor?
an ssd work quite in 2008 mb. know, that mb has s-ata 1.5 gbps (s-ata i) interface, maximum read/write speeds limited bit less 150 mb/s, again not detract fastness of daily , normal interaction. can use s-ata 3.0 gbps (s-ata ii) or s-ata 6.0 gbps (s-ata iii) ssd if want, backwards compatible, , can use ssd in new mac later.
have ssd in 2007 imac , 2009 mbp, both using c2d cpus , still feel fast, of course, calculate slower, noticeable during cpu intensive tasks.
