Recovered Messages - can't receive email

hi all, tried send large file on email, large, couldn't sent.
can still send email can't receive email in mail on imac.

offending email in recovered messages folder below junk folder.
ive tried delete re-appears.
have tried taking account offline deleting, taking account online still re-appears.
tried using sumo commands in terminal hasn't helped either.

can ?
