Question about new iPad and using att sim until verizon LTE is here

i had original ipad unlimited data , yesterday got new ipad verizon. lte not here yet, time in next 3-4 months being told. anyways activated ipad verizon , out of curiosity slapped att sim out of original ipad in there , have seen on forums works, att 4g. haven't gone onto att website , updated device yet, understand if don't att cancel data plan sim , i'd lose unlimited data..my question is, if update imei/iccid off verizon ipad on att.'s end, somehow mess part me when verizon lte here , want stick verizon sim in? i've swapped couple of times , seems switch networks fine. im not sure if updating imei/iccid locks ipad att though.

so, new ipad has both att , verizon built same unit? bit confused when read can roam on either network either ipad version, in verizon ipad 3 work on att 4g ??
