New iPad Demand is 'Off the Charts' with Initial Pre-Order Batch Sold Out

apple told usa today demand newest ipad has been "off charts" , initial batch had been sold out:

we previously reported u.s. pre-orders had been pushed past march 16th launch date of friday morning, shipping estimates having been pushed out 2-3 weeks in countries included in initial batch of launches.

3rd generation ipad still available purchase on march 16th @ apple retail stores, presumably long lines. new ipad announced last week , introduced retina display, a5x chip, lte , 5mp rear camera.
