Help with memory card

i'm new both macbook pros , photography. took photos digital camera today , learned how transfer them memory card iphoto.

question this.....what correct , safe way me "eject" or "remove" memory card mbp without causing harm card or computer?

pull out of mbp's slot, or there things click on before removing card?

find card in finder, hit eject icon once disappears, pull out. once you've backed pictures external drive, site or other media, reformat in camera.

if yank out, don't worry- you're not writing it, though os complain wasn't ejected won't harm contents of card.
