HELP!: Shell Scripts/Apple Script/Terminal

ok posted in mac os x forums , got no replies (although 596!!! people viewed it), figured in wrong forums re-posting here:

hey guys, pretty new mac, , sort of confused things. know lot of guys experts/pros , hoping in-depth help.

here dilemma: trying create type of shortcut on desktop that, when clicked on, automatically launch terminal , execute command put macbook hibernate mode (or 'safe sleep' mode apple calls it). native windows user, please bear me not know/recognize many apple terms , slang , shortcuts.

have read places can create script or reads:
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 5
exit
, save 'hibernate.command'? on contrast, if want sleep normal create script saying:
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
exit
, save 'sleep.command'? exact process still unclear.

have right @ all? can save shortcut of terminal script (or file itself) desktop---so have double-click , terminal automatically opens , executes closes (the 'exit' command?), , can close lid put computer in safe sleep/hibernation (it saves current session disk , powers down)? or there script can write tell computer save image of current session disk power down automatically? text editor need/use this? hope out there knows/understands trying accomplish. please help! lol

if have wrong, please point me in right direction, or 1 of experts perhaps walk me step-by-step thru (please literally walk me step step if dummy, lol----that's need, because trying learn this), or post need or send me link link script written it's supposed be? (please, please no smart-ass/degrading/badgering/begrudging comments "why on earth want hibernate mac, why not put sleep normal?" or "i have mentioned in various places/other forums" or "why not use third party software?". have reasons wanting/needing hibernate it---remember newbie os x, , help/expertise appreciated).

pmset sets "sleep" do. changes setting in nvram, kind of changing bios setting on typical pc.

still need tell machine sleep in usual way.
or, have mentioned in various places. use 1 of many third party tools aim make easier.
