Could adding Windows 7 to my MacBook be harmful?

i have 2007 white macbook. 4 years+ old.

statistics class in college, teacher telling need windows os access program mac's cannot run. giving cd windows 7, partitioning hard drive allow windows run harmful mac? computer pretty slow , feel if add windows, worse. xp or vista better option?

 

no, not harmful mac, using windows not affect mac os x, running windows separately via boot camp or vm (see below, though need ram this).
