looking 27" display use, primarily, 2011 macbook pro. i'd apple thunderbolt display in shot (i use 27" acd @ work), except still want flexibility of plugging in other computers, including non-thunderbolt work macbook , old mac pro.
hp zr2740w looks candidate: not in same league apple displays, cheaper.
however, has had experience of using hp zr2740w monitor mac? specifically: displayport input work thunderbolt macbook pro (using mini-to-full displayport cable)?
ask because have hp lp2475w , doesn't work tb macs on displayport (this documented on-line: goes wonky colour correction/anti-aliasing looks low res). fine mdp-to-dvi adaptor, , thankfully lp2475 has more inputs can shake stick @ doesn't matter much. zr2740, however, there 1xdvi , 1xdp, not being able use displayport setback.
other candidate dell u2711 - have that working on thunderbolt mac?
p.s. i'm open-minded on glossy vs. matte issue: use both , swings&roundabouts. have, however, heard antiglare coating on dell bit over-the-top...
(aside: true display can daisy-chain apple tb display apple tb display...?)
i using dell u2711 @ work. have connected lenovo x201 docking station display port connector. have connected 2011 mba mini-displayport dual link dvi adapter.
using 2560x1440 both x201 , mba.
