Airprint on Non-Listed Brother Printer & Maybe Others

bought new ipad, first apple venture. disappointed printing brother's iprint & scan on mfc-j6910dw. so, purchased mfc-j625dw. set , nothing happened. downloaded latest j625 firmware , serendipitously both printers showed upgradeable. taking "risk", upgraded both , both showup , work.

both printers have same print engine. may why works. so, if have supposedly non-airprint printer, check firmware upgrade of or , give try.

my brand new epson workforce 520 bought last year doesn't have airprint , neither trusty brother hl-5250dn laser printer. both networked , neither shows on ipod 4g.

however, airprint activator got network printers working on old powerpc server. need 1 of computers on , can print ipod or other ios device.

frankly, think it's ridiculous apple didn't include level of functionality in osx begin with. wtf should have have newer printer print on network? many of have servers on 24/7 (my whole house audio/video server example) , being able print available printer should no-brainer.

in fact, it'd nice if router upgrades handle automatically network printers (but apple want license fee kills technology).
