960 Grid system - Pros and Cons

i wanted of thoughts on usage of 960 grid system in production environment. of pros , cons vs using custom css?

 

what's experience css?
argue using grid 960gs or blueprint allows quicker development , tight control of positioning. easier imo use custom css layout.

said prefer custom coding more control on aspects of page. use custom css template (full of resets , general layouts find myself using often) made of projects. record use drupal , find it's been easier theme not using grid framework. responsive web. may disagree.

it's personal preference.
