What do you expect from iPad 3 and iOS 6?

so, more , rumours ipad 3 appearing speak. big tech-sites convinced ipad 3 launch in march or @ earliest in late february.

no 1 sure announcement of third generation ipad: rumours ranging february somewhere in march. so, if assume third generation ipad announced in february, first possible date wednesday february 1st. means in reality, apple send out media event invitations starting week.

so, real question is: what expect third generation ipad?
, second question: what expect ios 6? (most released in summer or autumn 2012).

think ipad 3 important upgrade ipad 2, more important ios 6: bring us, , bring ipad?

what expect

third generation ipad
expect ipad 3 huge upgrade on ipad 2. first of all, there 'retina display': display 4 times resolution of ipad 2, 2048 1536 pixels - reaching astonishing 264 pixels per inch on 9.7" display.

expect ipad 3 feature quad-core processor based on current cortex a9 architecture used in a5, produced @ 32nm production line (instead of 45nm production line). more powerful, yet more energy-efficient. so, why expect ipad 3 feature quad-core processor? 2 reasons: there lots of rumours a6 chip, , indicating a6 chip quad-core processor. secondly, apple supporting 4 cores in ios 5.1. fact apple builds support 4 cores doesn't mean a6 chip feature quad-core processor, think - in combination these rumours - will.

ram wise expect 1 gb. first of all, retina display requires more ram. secondly, waste if quad-core processor limited amount of ram. , besides that, ios 6? think apple surprise ios 6, , hope go optimal performance.

gpu wise? don't know. apple decide keep using same gpu in ipad 2. hear thinking: "unlikely." - well, think it. apple did same iphone 4: iphone 4 had push 4 times many pixels iphone 3gs, yet both had same gpu.
it's possible go quad-core gpu (the a5 chip using dual-core gpu) improve performance. third possibility going use gpu based on powervr 6-series (instead of powervr 5-series). it's unlikely, not impossible.

design wise? there no way tell. in past 2 months, i've seen 3 rumours: thinner design, same design same thickness , thicker ipad same design - , these rumours based on prototypes dating around june 2011.
possible keep same design. it's possible ipad 3 have brand new design. it's possible keep same design, going use else aluminium (which mean ipad 3 gets new design, yet doesn't).
now, i'm assuming ipad 3 same design ipad 2 yet thicker - way won't disappointed.

glonass , bluetooth 4.0. seems no-brainer me. ipad 3 support glonass next gps, , bluetooth 2.1 replaced bluetooth 4.0.

camera upgrades? current ipad 2 cameras terrible, , pictures pixelated. if ipad 3 retina display, must upgrade cameras - otherwise pictures worse. expect facetime hd front facing camera (just on macs), , expect improved rear-camera.

storage upgrade? i'm not expecting here, hope apple going double storage: $499 32 gb, $599 64 gb , $699 128 gb. if ipad 3 gets retina display , better cameras, result in bigger pictures (and bigger file sizes), bigger application sizes , bigger movie sizes (because put full hd movies on ipad) 16 gb model little.

lte rumour: don't expect lte support. lte supported in small parts of world. sure, united states has decent lte network, remember: how many people buying 3g/4g model? , how many of people on verizon's lte network? , if at&t supported, how many on at&t's network? , how many choose lte if 3g cheaper? adding lte mean adding weight , costs, , small part of public use it.

don't know expect. hope ios 6 ipad more focused on bigger screen. @ multitasking bar: bottom part used.

i'm hoping design changes: i'm not asking huge overhaul, i'm asking give ios new clothes.

hope ios 6 more focused on tablet-experience. more specifically: springboard , lockscreen. apps , bigger screen size things different iphone. lockscreen , springboard enlarged: bet apple better here.

 

agree lot said- except doubting quad core.
think dead on when expected bt 4 though.
