Airport does not connect to internet, various other problems

hi -

i'm having problems connecting (via airport) internet. ethernet works fine. problem came on , came few other problems. i've experienced blue screen , weird resolution change no reason. also, date set 2001... operating system says have 10.6.6 though disc installed 10.6.8... weird. know there no problem network, since girlfriend's computer (pc) connects fine. i've tried resetting router, turning airport on , off, resetting firewall, deleting com.alf file, playing network prefs. airport says has self-assigned ip , not connect internet, i've renewed dchp lease... cannot figure out. have ideas? in advance!

all problems computer-side. need check on health of hdd. open disk utility , check smart status (should "verified") also, repair permissions. (sorry if know how this, thorough)

trick go network preferences , delete wifi interface using "minus" button on bottom, re-add interface using "plus" button on bottom. can fix connection issues.

if none of work, , don't want re-install os x, can try reseting smc controller , see if helps. apple has how-to , explanation here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
while you're resetting things, resetting pram can help. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
