Intel X25 G2 - massive drop in read performance

i installed intel x25m g2 in macbook pro (unibody) time ago. worked charm. when patch enable trim support on leopard came out, applied , subjectively felt increase in performance.

last year in october switched lion , lost patch again. couple of weeks ago had feeling mac had become bit sluggish (boot performance, application start-up etc), when new trim patch lion came out happily applied well, thinking counter performance loss.

however, little changed. did xbench couple of times , these results:

sequential 104.63
uncached write 182.67 112.16 mb/sec [4k blocks]
uncached write 119.48 67.60 mb/sec [256k blocks]
uncached read 49.08 14.36 mb/sec [4k blocks]
uncached read 249.15 125.22 mb/sec [256k blocks]

random 458.33
uncached write 769.50 81.46 mb/sec [4k blocks]
uncached write 204.17 65.36 mb/sec [256k blocks]
uncached read 1194.49 8.46 mb/sec [4k blocks]
uncached read 590.77 109.62 mb/sec [256k blocks]

going on? have idea why read performance dropped badly? used around 190-200 mb/sec. know ssds degrade on time, thought related write performance. have 120gb version , 28gb free space.

enabling trim means os tells drive when delete occurring can mark such, instead of ssd not knowing , performing 2 operations when not marked empty.

applying no on prior delete cycles default. if used drive without trim months , months , enabled it. trim moving forward on data blocks marked deleted need erase free space (found in disk utility) handle other stuff trim didn't know since wasn't enabled
