Play count not updating on my iPod touch 4

so.. noticed last week.. listening ipod touch non-stop last week , when synced it, playcounts weren't updated. today, listened ipod day long , when synced it, playcount not updated. when plug in laptop tho , play there, updates playcount. i'm not sure problem is.. can me?


run latest ios. , it's 64 gb if helps

 

i have 64gb ipod touch (3rd generation), running latest os , latest version of itunes, same problem , have long time. have number of songs don't show single play count, know i've listened them on ipod. don't use itunes match on ipod because of other problems had (considering turning on, not sure if it's worth it), although have turned on on mac.
