Get new iPad, sell Macbook Pro?

i've got 2 year old imac , 15" macbook pro dates 2008. both in fine operating , cosmetic condition.

use mbp. take on business trips have computer handy, , while away, use catch on email, web surf , edit copy i've written client. mbp, charger, adds considerably weight carry in airline carry-on bag.

so, i'm thinking of selling mbp , replacing new ipad , perhaps zagg folio case includes seems decent keyboard.

100% of places visit while away have wifi.

lack of ports on ipad concerns me, maybe because i'm used computers lots of ports, of don't use. also, i've preferred using mouse using gestures, though suppose adjust.

so, i'm wondering...should keep laptop , ipad...or sell laptop?

i'm leaning towards real indecision here.
