MacBook Pro display not working correctly

2.26 ghz intel core 2 duo
8 gb 1067 mhz ddr3
nvidia geforce 9400m 256 mb
osx 10.7.2

encountered problem macbook pro display. when turn on macbook chimes instead of going apple logo screen stays white unless plug tv using mini display port. when plug macbook tv can see display on tv perfectly, display on macbook changes white weird purple, black, , white lined screen can't make out on display. lines sort of move on macbook move mouse or open app trying work stays is. tried resetting pram , macbook date. i'm trying second opinion before spend money new logic board or display. have no apple care either. appreciated
