Fast(er) way of burning DVD movies?

i'm using toast burn dvd movies (.m4v) encoding process feels it's taking lot longer does. these 1 hour videos , encoding process taking 1.5 2 hours. there faster way of burning .m4v dvd player playback?

macbook 13" (late 2008 unibody)
2.4 duo core
8gb ram

not really. limited cores on cpu. in same position older machine. take 1.5 times length of movie encode. jump machine have (sig) , takes 30 mins full movie.
