Need help w/ part(s) for connecting mid 2009 MBP to HD TV

hardware:
macbook pro mid 2009
sony bravia kdl-32ex500 hd tv
hdmi cable

situation:
to use mbp put netflix on tv in 1080p. want have option of having sound come through tv speakers or able plug headphones mbp , audio movies i'm playing on tv. other parts need buy?

also, option better buying roku? why or why not?

please answer question directly , don't link me thread. if provide link actual part(s) need, appreciate it. thanks!

 

you need part called mini dvi hdmi adapter. can these off ebay cheap, of them transfer video signal through , not audio. moshi brand of particular adapter expensive, @ least reliable says transfer video , audio.

need hdmi cable go adapter tv.

i'm not familiar roku else able fill in on one! hope helps
