Starting iTunes Library from scratch: Rip in what Format?

my itunes library mess, , need start scratch , re-rip cd's...many ripped @ low bitrates. had duplicates , unnamed tracks...i used programs in past delete duplicates , name tracks..which did poor jobs..and @ point need start over.

use apple products music listening (iphones, macbook air, ipad). main computer system windows 7 machine however. use music match service.

since starting over, want right. considering re-ripping cd's in apple lossless format (alac), have in pristine format. there...i considering letting music match service upload , stream "stream" 256 bitrates other devices, such iphone , ipad...which listen in not perfect conditions, doubt miss listening them in lossless format.

question gain lossless format? not able stream lossless music stereo receiver windows 7 machine, , listening lossless format cheap computer speakers not benefit lossless format. wasting time , hard drive space re-ripping lossless format, or should rip 256 or 340 bitrate , have have "good enough". also, never did know if should rip vbr or not.

help!

for use describing wasting disc space if choose rip in alac.

rip in format, have invested high amount of money in hi-fi high-end stereo system , use headphone amplifier (and headset match it) on-the-go listening experience. while hear significant difference in audio quality lossless files songs downloaded directly itunes, difficult notice difference on audio quality, me, on audio system describe.

far lossy formats go, recommend without doubt aac 256kbps.
edit: also, itunes match not copy your audio files other devices own, file if bought particular song in itunes. in other words, lossless files on main computer stored normal aac on other devices. (which why don't use myself)
