i (within last month , half) earned actc 10.6 certification, certifies solid knowledge base of snow leopard client , introductory knowledge base of snow leopard server. admittedly, reading "mac os x server essentials 10.6" , training therein first ever exposure version of mac os x server, let alone snow leopard server. hold acsp 10.6 , 10.7 certs , know lot client os systems snow leopard , lion well, know nothing lion server. brings me question:
haven't yet cracked open "os x lion server essentials" book prepare actc 10.7 certification, though planning on doing in not-too-distant future. in meantime, i've played around lion server hour total , aside "server" app both replacing "server preferences" app , acting delivery mechanism package converts/differentiates lion client lion server, , new ios management features, can't tell difference once 10.7 server admin tools installed. i've read number of negative reviews on mac app store lion server, can't tell if people don't know download 10.7 server admin tools separately , complaining problems there solutions or if there problems lion server make step down snow leopard server.
mac sys-admin newbie, given have while before can crack open "os x lion server essentials" book , want have of preview going it, real changes between snow leopard server , lion server? major complaints? , in opinion of knows, these complaints valid? if more experienced in these matters share, that'd appreciated. thanks.
these general , broad questions. best advice search google pro's , con's because lot of different perspectives.
1 of biggest note-worthy changes me configuration profile manager. if apple can nail down change way sysadmins manage policies forever.
biggest con have feel lion "server" not "server" product as "service add on pack".
