Playing AVCHD files directly on iPad?

like other people record hd video in avchd format (.mts file extensions).

best way import , play files on ipad without converting them different format?

 

does nobody run problem? format cameras record in, if not avchd? haven't seen camera recording different format in years, hence little surprised lack of responses original question. explain? thanks!
