Can the new iPad be charged using MacBook USB ports?

i forgot mba @ office can't test myself. have few usb wall chargers worked on ipad 2 show "not charging" on ipad 3. know ipad 2 charge when plugged mba (albiet slowly) has tried usb charging "2012" ipad?
