Boot-SSD external on imac?


hello :)

got ssd harddrive , case (fw800) brother, , own imac mid 2010, there way can make ssd harddrive first drive/boot drive external, , have date on internal standard 1 tb drive?
 

yep, install lion onto drive, , choose boot drive system preferences > startup disk.

however, think your'e going disappointed in speed you're expecting. while fw800 has decent data transfer rate, it's severely severely limiting capabilities of ssd's total speed.

should go owc , data doubler (owc link, take out superdrive , put ssd in place. being directly connected via sata give full speed of ssd vs crippled speed of fw800.
