Upgrading to a new MBP

i have questions guess maybe i'm not searching find answers to. have mid 2009 mbp (i believe time period, first unibody pro) still performing wonderfully. wife anti-mac when bought it. loves , uses more these days can't pry her. 2gb 250gb model, (not computer savvy) upgraded 4gb , 500gb hd myself.

questions are: if buy new 13" model myself today, how quality (known issues , whatnot) compared 2009 model? main differences (i noticed base of new ones same stats current) between two? new ones easy update hardware (10 screws pretty jist of it) mine?

i'm not sure if i'm missing anything. buy base model , upgrade ram 8gb , maybe larger hd through newegg.

other information appreciated.

edit: also, if select higher of 2 13" options, how difference notice between i5 , i7?

same great computer - better performance - sounds not needing 1 right away - expect refresh within 5 months.
