SMS from 6 months ago with photo. How to retrieve?

someone txted me photo through sms not imessage 6 months ago. today needed photo , kept on scrolling back sms page hit point option load older posts didn't appear anymore.

iphone mac every day. there way can retrieve photo (it not in iphoto app in texting app) through backup? not sure since backing if overwrote photo. , if can, how do it? thank much!

build time machine? if you're backing on regular basis overwritten eventually.
