Problem with iMessage (Not coming through)

me , girlfriend imessage each other when she's on lunch (at 1-2pm.)

works fine usually, sometimes, more i'd like, messages stop coming through no reason, , have ring me check whether went through. pick phone up, , moment do, come through @ once (my phone rumbles , can hear text tone.)

same happens other way round, imessages/texts stop coming through , when picks phone, come through @ once.

don't know whether problem imessage, similar thing happened when texting when had blackberry on vodafone (i'm on o2, we're both on iphones on o2 now)

there wrong phone, or carrier problem? has else had similar problems perhaps on different networks?

both updated ios 5.1 last night, , happened today, if it's software bug, hasn't been fixed yet.

 

i still seem having problem, shed light on this? have tried restore , rebooting phone cleaning sim card.
