Outlook 2011 | Email Attachment Names

if attach file email long name...

in outlook system renames to...

pacc168838_stpatrick#1e0b89.jpg.jpeg

files open fine, can imagine frustrating recipients of emails receiving files incorrect names. doesn't matter file format, swf, jpg, png, whatever. matters length of filename. if send email through our web based email not rename files, happens when sending through outlook 2011.

somewhere along way, server has limit on number of characters allowed in filename. describing long-standing technique work around limit. not able replicate experience setup. this, mean each of options encoding attachment file name preserves 50-odd character filename of test file.
